Uncopyright

Copyright and rules suck, so we decided not to have any. All our works are released into the public domain and are 100% copyright free.

This means you can use the work and freebies available on DesignerCandies for anything you want. You do not need to email us asking for permission to use our work in your latest design project, brush pack, template product or anything else for that matter.

You are free to use our work however you choose. You do not need to credit our name or give a credit link back to us (but it is always nice to be appreciated).

Why we’re releasing copyright

Copyright and complicated license agreements are often put in place by large corporations and used to crack down on the little guys so they can continue their large profits. Copyrights are often said to protect the artist, but in most cases the artist gets very little while the corporations make most of the money.

We are not a large corporation and we are not clamping down on the little guys. We want to empower the little guys – the artists – to make, do and create more.

Releasing our work under a license of any sort would only restrict creativity. The only true way to offer our content to artists to use free from restriction is to uncopyright all of our work.

    Great idea!

    • Adam McIntyre

Best way for the community to thrive off these assets I think :)

  • xzykho

I would like to be a recipient of your generosity. Great stuff you have here!

    • Adam McIntyre

Thanks dude, I hope you enjoy the content!

  • Shawn Allen

I’m curious, though you might not have any idea yet: how hard is it going to be to get content? Do you plan to create all the content personally?

    • Adam McIntyre

Most of it we’ll produce ourselves. If anyone wants to submit content – providing it’s high quality and they submit it for the right reasons, we’ll be open to considering it.

      • Shawn Allen

Well, once I get a few computer (hardware) issues ironed out and reload my drives, I may have a few things I can submit. I’ll keep this in mind.

  • Christine Pfeil

    Thank you very much!!!

    • Adam McIntyre

      You’re welcome, Christine!

  • Klaus Rivera

Thanks Again ADAM! It makes perfect sense, especially with the power of having a huge following this can all work to your advantage and thats where you would make the real money. Your free renders def take my work to the next level and at the end of the day the resources are irrelevant if the ones using it don’t know how to turn it into financial gain. So it all comes down to how we use our own particular candle, your resources are the light ! ;)

    • Adam McIntyre

Sounds great, Klaus! I hope you can keep enjoying the content we offer whether for financial gain or just Photoshop fun, enjoy man!

I think its an awesome concept! Obviously, folks have to make a living. But, say, it could be a sort of standard for online stock providers to parcel out a portion for free use or ‘uncopyright’. I guess a gift is a gift, but, I get so tickled to get a notice from one of the larger stock sites with “a” free download of the week and it’s a generic green earth! One more generic green earth and I’ll…. LOL

When I wanted to learn Photoshop, being a granny and loving my g-kids’ photos, I rather stumbled across the digi-scrapbooking community. Everyone was really nice and helpful! Plus, there were tutorials to make things and for neat techniques. I gave away my practice stuff as freebies on my blog. All the digi-scrappers do it; make a kit and give a sampler of it as a freebie on their blog! Their’s usually have strict terms of use. But, then, most of those have a shop and charge for their kits. For many, it is their source of income.

Note: Some things I had to mark as Personal Use only as I used someone else’s resources in my freebie. But, anything I make myself or with purchased or “honest-to-goodness-free” resources, I gave freely – Commercial Use – no credit necessary, no nothing. It’s yours! As I got better, my stuff got better. I sucked BIG TIME when I started! LOL But, I learned a wealth of information and there are some things I’m better at than others. I would certainly be willing to put something together to put in a site like this.

Sites like this are becoming quite popular. Unsplash is one and, well, here is a site with a list of them:

I wonder how are you profited ? btw i loved, how much you are concerned about creativity, brands are yet to get this point and its hidden USPs

    • Adam McIntyre

I also run FlyerHeroes.com, although I will probably introduce a premium product here on DesignerCandies to help fund the site soon. Enjoy the resources @nirmituchil:disqus !

Adam, you know I’ve been a big fan of yours for a long time. You have been a blessing to so many of us and I, personally, appreciate your generosity. “Only in sharing with others, do we find ourselves enriched in many ways” …. that’s my take on it. Thank you for all you do.
