Sinewave – 100 Abstract Textures

Recently I've been making a lot of club flyers again. House music type flyers with minimal layouts. As so I've been in need of vibrant abstract textures to use as the backgrounds. Rather than scroll the web for hours, I thought I'd crack out Photoshop and make a bunch of my own.

To make these textures, I took 100 photos from Pexels and ran them through a series of Photoshop filters & render effects. To create the abstract wavy effect, I used gaussian blurs, motion blurs and a handful of distort effects.

The primary means of distorting the textures was Photoshop's “Wave” filter with the “Sine” setting active, hence the “Sinewave” name of this pack.

All-in-all there were about 40 steps in creating each of these textures. I tailored the individual settings for each based on the based image and tried to incorporate a variety of styles.

I'm very happy with how these have turned out. The abstract wavy style and high resolution enable the same texture to be used over multiple pages, creating a “flow” across the design.

Furthermore, the similarity in style and waviness across each texture makes it easy to mix and match several textures in the same project.

Though the same style is applied across every texture, using unique photos as the base for each has resulted in a vast array of textures to choose from.
